Susan is an expert in socio-economic impact assessment, monitoring and community relations. She has 25 years experience assessing and managing socio-economic issues, Aboriginal relations, and public and government affairs pertaining to energy sector and infrastructure development projects.

Susan is a specialist in the design and implementation of socio-economic monitoring programmes, stakeholder engagement, SIAs, and labour and working conditions. She has worked on projects in various sectors including: oil and gas E&P; pipelines; power generation and transmission; transportation; and water distribution. Susan is skilled at conducting social analyses and adapting analytical tools in a wide variety of geo-political contexts and has worked for public and private sector projects in Canada, the UK, Vietnam, Thailand, China, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Peru, Ecuador, and Bosnia.

Susan was the socio-economic lead for an integrated assessment and baseline study of a potential in-situ oil development in northern Alberta and led regulatory socio-economic assessments of oil sands and energy developments for Aboriginal communities in northern Alberta. She also co-led a Participatory Needs Assessment in Kazakhstan and was a key contributor to a global portfolio review on labor influx and social risk for the World Bank.

Susan has held senior corporate positions in a large power generation company and as an in-house technical expert for a major pipeline company and is experienced in operationalizing social mitigation and performance strategies within complex corporate structures. She is based in British Colombia and holds a BSc. in Social Anthropology and Political Science from the University of British Colombia and a MSc. in Regional and Urban Planning Studies from the London School of Economics.
