Razi Abrougui is a Tunisian national based in Tunis. He has 25 years’ experience in community development and non-technical risk management. Razi has worked on social performance in the extractive industries, with recent experience being in Tunisia, Egypt, Iraq and the UAE. Assignments have included the development and implementation of social performance plans, meeting with both national requirements (employment) and international standards (e.g. IFC Performance Standards).
Razi worked for BG and latterly for Shell Tunisia, in which capacity he led engagement with communities and regional authorities and played a role in maintaining production during the revolution and during subsequent periods of social unrest. He has also led to the development and implementation of the resettlement related to the construction of Hasdrubal gas treatment facility.
Razi has supported the SP team at the Majnoon oil field in Iraq in relation to a change in the employment process to meet community expectation and reduce pressure on the social performance team. He also led the social performance part of the 2019 LOD3 audit of Basra Gas Company (BGC – Iraq). Razi holds a BASc. Mechanical Engineering from Laval University and a EMBA from South Mediterranean University (AMBA London Accredited). He is trilingual in English, French and Arabic and speaks conversational Italian.
