Independent E&S Peer Review – Papua LNG Project

Total E&P commissioned an independent Environmental & Social External Panel review for its Papua LNG project. The objective was to help the Project to improve the ESIA prior to submission to the government and the lenders. The review focused on the quality and completeness of the ESIA, in line with Total E&S standards, national regulations and lender safeguards.

Deliverables

Plexus led the social review of the ESIA and was part of a multi-discplinary team of EIA, HSE and biodiversity experts from different institutions. Plexus carried out and coordinated the review and gap analysis of the SIA and socio-economic parts of the ESIA.

Outcomes

The peer review resulted in a report and a presentation to the senior management team in Port Morseby and Paris. The report featured a series of recommendations to strengthen the ESIA prior to submission to the lenders and to the PNG authorities and was instrumental in securing the approval of the ESIA.
