The Plexus team has over 30 years experience in the area of impact assessment and project planning in the oil and gas, mining and infrastructure sectors. We carry out social, socio-economic and strategic environmental and social impact assessments of projects, including scoping and social baseline studies and related research. We also carry out peer reviews of project-specific impact assessments, including risk assessments, SIAs and ESHIA and help clients to comply with IFC Performance Standards and the Equator Principles. Plexus and its associates have led and managed over 80 SIAs, strategic assessments and socio-economic impact studies in over 40 countries across six continents.
We assist clients in identifying and managing non-technical risk, strengthening the social licence to operate and achieving their business objectives. Impact studies are carried out in compliance with national regulatory requirements and international expectations and standards. Our team has extensive experience working with international standards such as the Equator Principles, the IFC Performance Standards, ISO 26000, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. This approach, grounded in an understanding of local cultural, social and regulatory circumstances, helps clients to achieve their business objectives, reduce costly delays, manage environmental and social risk and minimise conflict.
We integrate related environmental, human rights, supply chain, safety and health aspects and apply tools such as GIS and visualisation techniques as required. Applying a bespoke approach, we also use checklists, protocols and related assessment methods as needed. Our strategic partner Habitat Health Impact Consulting is a leader in Health Impact Assessment.
