A versatile and effective environmental consultant, educator and biodiversity researcher, Karen has a unique depth and breadth of experience in international socio-environmental consulting and project delivery. Now working in both research and solution-oriented roles, her focus is on recognising and understanding the interplay between legal, social, organisational and practical constraints, as well as the fundamental, long-term requirements of environmental conservation and sustainability. She is currently - but not exclusively - applying this to corporate and stakeholder capacity building for sustainable development, through organisational development, education and training.

She is bilingual in French/English with a working knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese and German, and with additional postgraduate qualifications in law, environmental economics, and teaching. She  works in both strategic research and solution-oriented roles. Her focus is on helping companies to recognise, understand and manage the interplay between legal, environmental, social, and organisational constraints, as well as engaging with the fundamental, long-term requirements of environmental conservation and sustainability. She carries out social and environmental impact assessment (EIA and ESIA), works on the consultative preparation of environmental and social management plans (ESMPs and Community Development planning), interprets and analyses environmental and social policy, legislation and guidelines, and develop and deliver knowledge transfer, training and capacity-building.

She holds postgraduate qualifications in Environmental Education & Training from the University of Bath, UK; a PGCE Secondary Science, from Canterbury Christ Church University College; an MPhil in Conservation Biology from the University of Kent and a MA in Natural Sciences 1988 from the University of Cambridge, Newnham College. She is Fluent in French and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a Member of the IUCN (World Conservation Union) Commission on Education and Communication.
