Elodie is a senior communications and external affairs professional with 20 years' international experience. She has deep expertise in the oil and gas industry but also works across other industries.

She was formerly BP's Head of Societal Issues and Relationships, leading social policy management, social risk assessment , advocacy and stakeholder engagement. She also worked as Head of Communications for BP's Exploration & Production business and as Communications and External Affairs Director for BP's North Africa business (Algeria/Libya). Previously, Elodie worked for the BBC World Service and volunteered for a number of human rights NGOs. Elodie has wide experience at Board and Executive Committee level and a global network of contacts in NGOs, government organisations and multinational companies.

Throughout her career, she has:

  • Advised executive teams and Board members on societal trends and risks, policy and advocacy positions as well as sustainability business strategy.
  • Led the cross-functional team that drafted BP's business and human rights policy, impacting communities and supply chains in more than 100 countries. The policy was published in 2013.
  • Provided critical recommendations on new market entry and developed and implemented corporate responsibility strategies in challenging countries. She led the team which drafted the $50m education offer included in BP’s Production Sharing Contract in Libya and developed BP’s corporate responsibility strategy in Algeria. She has also provided long-term social risk assessments for country entries in Greenland, Madagascar, Morocco and Myanmar.
  • Demonstrated high-quality delivery in the management of external stakeholders at HQ and country level, during access negotiations and during crises. She led the successful engagement with investors, which resulted in BP’s re-listing on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index in 2014. She was key to getting BP to be voted the best in responsible investor communications in 2004.
